Take your bike! The best cycle lanes in Veneto

Good news for all two-wheels aficionados! This year different areas of Veneto will realise important cycle lanes: the most spectactular of which seems to be the one that will be built on Lake Garda, which might reasonably become the most amazing scenic bike path in Europe, suspended between water and rock. But it’s not the only one: the “Fondo Comuni Confinanti”(that manages the funds for the areas adjacent to Belluno and Vicenza provinces) has just allocated 30 million euros to realise 100km cycle lanes, to complete the Dolomite bike ring and the Agordino cycle route and that will bring more visitors to Astico Valley, Valbrenta and Val d’Agno. All clear symptoms that tourism on two wheels is getting more important and establishing itself as sustainable alternative to traditional tourism.

While waiting for these projects to be accomplished, we are happy to point out the most beautiful cycle lanes in Veneto, perfect for city bikes:

Bike route Vicenza – Padova (access point only 4 km from Frassanelle):
it winds along the central tract of the river Bacchiglione and it partly retraces the old railway, running along important historical and cultural sites. Along and near the route you will find several venetian villas like Rotonda, villa Moschini Rossi, besides intersting churches, castles and museums. Description.

Lenght: 35 km
Difference in altitude:
Difficulty: easy

Euganean Hill Bike ring (access point 100 m from Frassanelle):
A 75 km route that crosses, with a maximum difference in altitude of 63m, some of the most scenic viewpoints of the hills and will allow you to visit, by taking some small detours, some charming destinations such as the Seven Churches Sanctuary in Monselice, the small hamlet Arquà Petrarca and Praglia Abbey. Description.

Lenght: 75 km
Difference in altitude: 63m
Difficulty: difficult

Padua River bike ring:
A nice route with no specific difficulty or difference in altitude, therefore suitable for anyone, especially in spring and autumn; it develops almost entirely on the summit of a river bank, by running first along canal Piovego (ideally the tour would start from Padova, Porte Contarine) then along other water streams until it reaches Brenta river, a naturalistic site of great beauty. Along the route you can see some villas and a water booth close to Limena, the former certosa in Vigodarzere, villa Pisani in Stra and finally, coming back to Padua, villa Giovanelli. Description.

Lenght: 54km
Difference in altitude:
Difficulty: medium

Sile Greenway – from Treviso to Jesolo:
