Falconry
Guided Tours with Falcons
The ancient art of falconry is brought back to life in Frassanelle!
Falconry is an ancient art imported from the Orient, where it emerged over 4000 years ago. Before the invention of firearms and when human existence was still dependent on hunting, the use of birds of prey was the best way of procuring food, and the birds were trained by steppe horsemen in Asia to hunt small animals. This art then spread throughout Europe in the 14th Century thanks to Frederick II of Swabia, who learnt the art of falconry during his numerous travels in Arab lands.
From this year in Frassanelle it is possible to learn something of this noble and ancient art against a background of unique, natural and uncontaminated beauty. The guided tours with falcons in the natural park are organised by the Alantica falconry company which has recently set up office in Frassanelle, thus allowing our guests and visitors to admire and learn something of the different species of birds of prey and get closer to the world of flora and fauna in the Frassanelle natural park.
The falconers of Alantica, all qualified at the Professional School in Marostica, the only recognised in Italy and the rest of Europe, coordinate and promote numerous events in the local area, including: private displays of birds of prey (weddings and parties), participation in public displays and medieval historical re-enactments, teaching about the world of falconry, days with birds of prey, environmental clearing with bird control.
Alantica organises guided tours of the natural park and history tours with falcons, in addition to falconry courses for people of all ages. The courses, for a limited number of participants, give a more in-depth knowledge of these birds of prey, their habits and feeding, providing the basic notions necessary for anyone who wishes to buy a bird of prey, and essential information for bird lovers.
Our guided tours to the natural park with falcons is a unique and exciting experience for young and old!
