Villa Emo Capodilista stands on Montecchia hill just 40 kilometres from Venice in the Euganean Hills Regional Park, a splendid and original Veneto Villa, one of the most charming architectural jewels in Italy. Built in 1568, Villa Emo Capodilista has remained the property of the same family that commissioned its construction. Today, after a careful restoration of the frescoes, it has been made available to our most demanding and refined guests for a Veneto luxury vacation.
The building, an original interpretation of the Veneto Villa, was designed as a hunting lodge by the architect and painter Dario Varotari, a pupil of Veronese, and built in a square which is repeated in the internal layout of the rooms: four on the ground floor and four on the first floor, divided by a staircase of four flights in the shape of a Greek cross. All the rooms are decorated with frescoes and trompe l'oeil depicting scenes from mythology and ancient history, putti, grotesques and friezes.
The façades are enhanced by two tiers of large loggias which, from the hilltop, look over magnificent and pleasant scenery and in particular, the west side of the villa looks over the 27-hole golf course, La Montecchia Golf Club, whose club house contains the restaurant La Montecchia, run by the Alajmo family and recently awarded a Michelin star. A few kilometres away lies the restaurant Le Calandre, managed by the same family, one of the few in Italy with 3 Michelin Stars. A high quality offer for a real Veneto luxury vacation.
Just inside the gates, you can see the vineyards of the Azienda Agricola Conte Emo Capodilista on the hill and at the foot of the southern side of the hill, this winery produces wines which were awarded Three Glasses by the Gambero Rosso - Slow Food in 2009 and have been mentioned several times by the critic Robert Parker Jr.
